Understanding District Performance Scores and the 3 Star Rating

 

District Performance Scores contains three Components

  1. District Performance Score – Based on all school’s performance scores

  2. District Responsibility Index- four indicators: summer school, change in SPS of all schools relative to growth targets, change in LEAP 21 first-time passing rate from one year to the next and employment of certified teachers

  3. Subgroup performance- based on the assessment and participation of defined subgroups within the district and schools

2008 Livingston Parish District Results

  • 7th out of 69 districts receiving a DPS

  • 1 of 9 Three Star Districts in the State

    • Of the 9 three star districts Livingston has the lowest local capacity for revenue per student and lowest expenditure per student

    • Of the 9 three star districts Livingston’s students with disabilities have the 2nd highest score (70.3)

    • Of the 9 three star districts Livingston’s economically disadvantaged students have the 2nd highest score (90.9)

  • Score of 101.5 an increase of 1.3 points

  • 8 schools eligible for monetary rewards

  • No schools in SI or corrective action

  • Graduation rate 5th in State

In the State there are 261 Three Star Schools which account for 20.7% of all schools

Ø  In L.P. there are 22 Three Star Schools which account for 57.9 % of L.P. schools

 

In the State the 2008 growth SPS was 87.2

Ø  In L.P. the  2008 growth SPS was 95.2

In the State there are 335 schools in Academic Assistance which account for 26.5% of all schools

Ø  In L.P. there are no schools in Academic Assistance

 

The 2007 State graduation rate is 65.9%

Ø  The 2007 L.P. graduation rate is 81.3% as compared to 80.2% in 2006

 

The state percentage of 4th grade students scoring basic or above in ELA is 71% and 69% in math

Ø The L.P. percentage of 4th grade students scoring basic or above in ELA is 79% and 82% in math

 

The state percentage of 8th grade students scoring basic or above in ELA is 60% and 60% in math
